Evangelistic event and/or one day kickoff for a Life in the Spirit Seminar
Goal: An introduction to Jesus and to the Holy Spirit who is the gateway to a vital faith. To be offered in conjunction with the Life in the Spirt Seminar: Catholic Editon 2000 and the use of the Prayer Journal for Baptism in the Spirit ((both by Therese Boucher)

Use several pictures or images of Jesus. This help people begin to explore their own perceptions of Jesus.

Introduction to the day and opeing prayer [20 minutes]

Witnesses to Jesus  [15 minutes]

There are no words that fully describe all that Jesus is to us. We will share a few of his title iin Scripture to grow in our ability to sense his presence among us.

THREE MINUTE witnesses (3 or 4)
Each witness applies one of the names to his or her life, giving a brief example of this name in his or her experience of God. See page 18 in the Prayer Journal for a list.

Sharing Question:   [20-30 minutes]

What images for Jesus do you see in your church, home or surroundings? What is your strongest or favorite image for Jesus? How has your mental picture of him changed over time? What name or title is most striking?

Meditation:   [10 minutes]

Use the exercise on page 18 in the Prayer Journal as a guide for spontaneous large group prayer.


Presentation: [15 minutes]

Explanation of Jesus as Lord. See the Life in the Spirit Team Manual but witholh the invitation to furter sessions until later in the day [page 74-76]

Sharing question: [20-30 minutes]

What difference has Jesus made in today's world? In my own life. Use the prayer exercise on page 19 in the prayer journal for small group prayer. Remind small groups to start this prayer exercise at 20 minutes.)

Break and/or lunch

Presentation of God's Love talk in the team manual (with time for sharing)

Presentation of Salvation talk as time permits (with time for sharing)
